 HISTORY OF KITKAT

Rowntree's, a confectionery manufacturer located in York, United Kingdom, patented the terms "Kit Cat" and "Kit Kat" in 1935, and the "Kit Kat" brand was born. The original Kit Kat appeared in the 1920s when Rowntree developed a brand of boxed chocolates called "Kit Cat", despite the names not being used at the time. This trend lasted until the 1930s, when Rowntree's concentrated on its "Black Magic" and "Dairy Box" trademarks. The "Kit Cat" brand suffered as a result of the advertising of competing items and was eventually phased out. The initial four-finger bar was created after a worker at Rowntree's York Factory suggested a snack that "a man could take to work in his pack".

The bar was first offered in London and throughout Southern England on August 29, 1935, under the name "Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp". In 1937, the product's official name was changed to "Kit Kat Chocolate Crisp", the same year that "Kit Kat" began to use "Break" into its well-known advertising campaign.

Due to World War II, the brand's color design and initial flavor variant were introduced in 1942, when a recipe change was necessitated by food shortages. The flavor of "KitKat" was altered to "dark", and the wrapper, which had previously been labelled "Chocolate Crisp", was replaced with blue. After the war, the name was changed to Kit Kat", and the milk recipe and red packaging were restored. Finger KitKat is a fictional character created by KitKat created by KitKat following its success in the UK, "Kit Kat" was exported in Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand in the 1940s. During the same decade, Donald Gilles, a JWT Orland executive, coined the catchphrase " Have a Break, Have a Kit Kat".

In the 1970s, Rowntree developed a new distribution factory in Germany to accommodate European demand, as well as agreements to market the brand in the United States and Japan, respectively, through the Hershey and Fujiya firms. Nestle acquired KitKat in June 1988 when it bought Rowntree's. With new facilities in Japan and additional manufacturing operations set up in Malaysia, India, and China, Nestle gained global control over the brand, with the exception of North America. Production and distribution increased as a result of this, with new facilities in Japan and additional manufacturing operations set up in Malaysia, India and China. The first flavor version of the standard chocolate bar appeared in 1996, when "Kit Kat Orange" was produced in the United Kingdom.

Following its success, numerous variants, including mint and caramel, were introduced, and in 1999,  "Kit Kat Chunky" was introduced, which was well accepted by foreign consumers. Throughout the decade of the 2000s, new variations on the original "Kit Kat" emerged. Nestle bought Fujiya's part of the brand in Japan in 2000, and increased its market in Japan, Russia and Turkey and Venezuela, as well as Eastern and Central European markets. 'KitKat' has introduced hundreds of flavors and line expansions within various consumer areas throughout the course of the decade, and on October 10th, 2009, it celebrated its 75th anniversary. The conventional bar has four fingers, each measuring around one centimeter by nine centimeters. In the 1930s, the business introduced a two-finger bar, which has remained the company's best-selling biscuit brand ever since. The "Kit Kat Chunky" from 1999(also known as " Big Kat" in the United States) contains one huge finger that measures roughly 2.5 centimeters in width.

KitKat bars come in a variety of sizes, from half-finger sized KitKat Petits in Japan to three-finger varieties in Arabia to twelve-finger family size bars in Australia and France, depending on the market. KitKat bars are available in singles, bags, boxes and multi-packs. Nestle also makes Kit Kat Ice Cream in Ireland , the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as "Kit Kat Drumsticks" in Australia and Malaysia. Nestle opened a new GBP 5 million production line in York, UK, in 2010. Each year, more than a billion KitKat bars will be produced.
