 Chocolates are sweet and people loves to eat chocolates. Chocolate is a food made from cocoa beans. It is used in many desserts like pudding, ice creams, candy, cakes and Easter eggs. It can be in a form of solid like candy bar or it can be in a form of liquid like hot chocolate. There are mainly three types of chocolates: White chocolate, Milk chocolate and Dark chocolate.

 White chocolate tastes much sweeter than the other two types, because it has more of the sweeter ingredients in it.

Milk chocolate is sweet, but not as sweet as white chocolate, as it has some cocoa.

Dark chocolate is the least sweet and has the strongest chocolate flavor.

Some interesting facts about chocolates: 


1. Chocolate is a fruit... the name of the tree that produce chocolate is Theobroma. The cocoa trees produce cacao pods that are also known as the 'Leguminous Fruit'. The farmers then harvest this fruit, remove the beans and ferment them before roasting and grinding the nibs into what we know to be chocolate.
2. The average Theobroma cacao tree produces 2500 beans each season. That's about 6.25lbs (or 2838g) of chocolate.. or 33 of our big chocolate bars.

3. Farmers have to wait 4-5 years before the Theobroma cacao tree is mature enough to yield fruit (aka chocolate).

4. Chocolate wasn't always solid, or sweet.. Until 1847, chocolate was a delicacy enjoyed in bitter liquid form. The British chocolate company Fry and Sons introduced the concept of "eating chocolate" after combining cocoa butter, sugar, and chocolate liquor. This concoction was more grainy than smooth but was still enjoyed by many.

5. White chocolate isn't really chocolate...because it doesn't contain any cacao solids or cacao liquor. This sweet treat is made from a blend of cocoa butter,  vanilla, and sugar. 


6. Chocolate is good for your teeth.. it has an antibacterial effect on the mouth, as eating pure cocoa has been shown to prevent tooth decay. 

7. 70% of the world's chocolate supply comes from West Africa (Ivory Coast). Beans grown in this region  have a more muted flavor profile which makes them perfect for coating commercial candy bars.

8. The Mayans and Aztecs used cacao beans as currency in a barter system for food and clothing in 1900 B.C.

9  The number of chocolate flavors available across the globe.. it is said that chocolates have more than 500 flavors  available.
